BACKGROUND

Jean-Marc Rovers

Jean-Marc Rovers began his legal career at leading Dutch law firm De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek, where he worked in the Amsterdam, The Hague, and London offices from 2005 to 2018. During his tenure, he was also seconded to the Hong Kong office of magic circle firm Slaughter and May, and to ABN AMRO Bank in Amsterdam.

Jean-Marc has a broad transactional practice with a strong focus on finance, investment, and acquisition matters. He has extensive experience advising on loans for general corporate purposes, working capital and specific use cases such as real estate, acquisition and project financings. While he predominantly advises corporate borrowers, he also has significant experience acting for banks.

Starting his career as an M&A lawyer, Jean-Marc has continued to combine M&A and finance throughout his practice. Over more than two decades, he has built deep expertise in mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and investment transactions - with particular knowledge as to transactions that require a mix of equity and (secured) debt funding.

Jean-Marc is recognised for his pragmatic, creative and solution-oriented approach, and for his responsiveness and commitment to clients. He is dedicated to staying at the forefront of legal and financial developments. He completed the prestigious Grotius post-graduate specialisation in Finance & Security Rights cum laude (2019-2020) and in 2024 earned a High Pass in the University of Cambridge's eight-week Sustainable Finance programme.
